Vangelis Legakis is an educator and practitioner in dance, healing and spirituality having over 20 years of experience. His expertise is the integration of Eastern and Western modalities for a holistic dance education and for how dance can enlighten our perspectives on life and how we interact with society.
Legakis creates holistic festivals, projects, residencies and courses and currently is launching new courses and practices so as to bring an integration in our lives and career. He is dedicating his career to offer his knowledge and experience to assist in the growth and education of young artists as well as professionals.
Legakis graduated from Laban Center (London, UK) with BA in Dance theatre and MA in Choreography and holds a Masters in Buddhist Studies from Hong Kong University.
He was researching alongside The Forsythe Company 2004-2013 where he started building up his new methodologies in dance, choreography and performance. He received profound education to teach, spread and develop Flying Low and Passing Through from the 50 days workshop in Costa Rica and learning by David Zambrano over a decade 2008-2018.
Currently, Legakis’ work is influenced by famous dance artists, William Forsythe, Julyen Hamilton, David Zambrano, Gill Clarke, Rosemary Butcher, Rosalind Crisp and he is integrating his experience and knowledge with healing and spirituality so as to provide a holistic approach into dance pedagogue and performance.
He extensively studied healing and therapies such as: Reiki I, II, & Master’s levels, Reflexology, Neuro-skeletal Re-Alignment, Deep Tissue and Holistic Massage and he furthered his studies in Structural Energy Awakening Therapy – Thai Massage (Mike Tan), Divine Healing Therapy (Dr. Ahlmeirah Ariel Hallaire), Integrative Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy, Thanatology (Rosemary Wallace), Abdominal Massage (Felicity Joy) and Tsi Nei Tsang (Khun Ni). He has also studied Kundalini Yoga and Qigong with great masters including Mantak Chia, Tew Bunnag, Swami Vivekananda, Mahasattva Ananda Sarita, Marika Bolsfeldt and many others.
He is internationally teaching interdisciplinary edifying practices he created: Contact Beyond Contact, Embodied Unity, Gliding Space as well as many well established dance styles such as: Flying Low & Passing Through, Forsythe Improvisation Technologies, Release, Contact Improvisation.
He has been teaching at Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Hong Kong University (DMT), University of Santiago of Chile, Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Istanbul University, Taipei University of the Arts, Taipei University, Beijing Dance LDTX, City Contemporary Dance Company and many other art spaces and companies.
He is the organiser of the:
International Interdisciplinary NO BORDERS Project that takes place each year during December in a different country and city.

The above productions reach beyond dance and choreography, they are activities and education for human development by fusing dance, spirituality and healing practices.
Legakis is the founder and artistic director of Unity Space and The Van – L Dance Company, under which he spreads interdisciplinary art and healing festivals, projects and workshops.
